Rebecca's Story

Life Let's bring this up to date. I am still married to the love of my life Mark. Twenty eight years and still going. This October 2011....we will have been together for 32 years. My son Ian Michael passed away on Dec 31, 2008. He was a victim of suicide and has left a hole forever in my heart. He was 19 years young. I miss Ian every day and it is a challenge to keep going without him. My daughter Alyson Christian was married on May 28, 2010 and now lives in Fort Knox, Kentucky. She and her two pups, Tawny and Winston are keeping the home front strong as her husband Andrew serves in Afghanistan. She is very active in volunteer work with the Special Olympics, Autism Society and the Wounded Warriors Organization. As for me....I had a very close call with my health this past winter of 2011. In March I ended up in the hospital with End Stage Renal Failure. I am now a dialysis patient and waiting for a kidney transplant. Although I am looking for a living donor....I will wait for a match to come up and accept a kidney from someone who has passed away. I still teach dance. Ballet being my specialty. If you need or want to know anything....or happen to have an extra kidney....you can contact me here at classmates. Hello! I am Rebecca Dempster-Trusz. I was know as Becky Dempster or as some called me: Jacks little sister! I grew up in Whitehall, living right along Route 51...directly across from the golf course. I was a Whitehall Borough "pool rat" for most of my young adolescent life. Obviously I was in "LOVE" with the life gaurds that came and went through the years....remembering Jack Zora, Mike, Dave Mateer, Dave Graff and Harry Pardini.....you were all GREEK GODS to me back then....hell....I was young....my first crush at about age 6! and the last farewell at about 14 or 15.....I found other, not so good, ways to spend my time. Now thinking back....I should have stayed at the POOL! I was also always dancing....going to class....in a performance....making up performances and so forth. I still dance today! I have been a professional dance teacher for the past 28 years and am currently certified nationally to teach Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Acrobatics. Keeps me busy! I was on the high school swimming and diving teams in my freshman year and actually took one first place in my first diving meet. After that.....the school career goes way south....but life goes on and we grow up....a little. I met my husband at work, through my big brother Jack, in October of 1979. We were married in 1983 and have been blessed with two children. Our oldest child....a daughter is now 19 and a freshman at West Virginia University. Deans list for the first semester and on the Dance Team for mens basketball games. Our youngest....a son is almost 17 and a junior in high school. He currently holds 7 varsity letters....Cross Country, Bowling and Track and Field. Our family has a love for rather strange pets! Other than the normal Dogs....we have pet rats and chinchillas! Odd...but loving....intelligent....clean and easy to care for. I think this should catch you up on my life.....past and present. I hope all who take the time to look me up....leave me a message....as old age is rapidly approaching....I find myself looking back....and in most cases SMILING! Rebecca Dempster-Trusz (01/14/2006) School I came to Baldwin (Wallace) from St. Elizabeth's and unfortunately, I definitely went in the wrong direction from the start. The only class and teacher that I truley loved was my German teacher....Ann Lindner. No matter how high I was or even if I skipped all my other classes....I rarely missed her class. She was an inspiration to me and the only teacher that had my brother Jack in class too that didn't hold me to his reputation.......Expand for more
.although....I followed in his footsteps all too closely, all on my own. I left Baldwin at the end of my freshman year....when my family decided to move to South Park to "get me away from all of the bad influences". I'll never forget, because the school had a teachers strike that year and we were in school until the end of June '76 and we moved the next week. I was crushed. I spent one year at South Park H.S. and transferred back for my junior and senior year. Somehow, amazingly, I passed the first three years of high school.....even though I majored in partying and the many different ways to chemically alter my mind. I do remember alot of names, some were friends and some just party buddies.....I had a few crushes during that time too.....the one that stands out most vividly was Danny Mirt. I still think about him to this day. My best friend during school was Sherry Stoernell. She and I are still friends today! But Sherry wasn't one of my party pals.....I'm remembering: Carol Davic, Roxanne Paynter, Iris Bandini, Shirley Peirce and Judy Weber. Roger Macek, Jimmy Scullion, Frank Burkhart...God rest his soul. How about Marty Reed? Now a priest! Perry and the Parenti brothers, Donna.....I don't remember her last name....but boy could we get into trouble! Dave Bell, aka Flatbush....we dated for almost two years....the Cafano brothers....and a host of others. I never went to a prom and finally did drop out of school in November of the senior year. I was just too damn busy with three jobs and other things to go to school. If you are reading this and you can remember something we did together....let me know. My biggest loss was that of the first guy I was in love with....a definite bad seed.....long hair hippy and talented musician with a bad drug problem. May Stevie Leone rest in peace (1982) I still visit his grave twice a year to this day! I don't know why I loved him....but I did and still do. So that about wraps up school......I wasn't there much but passed my GED with a B+ in the January of 1980. I did the college of life....one of the hardest schools around! LOL. As I stated in my Lifes Bio....as old age is rapidly approaching....I find myself looking back and smiling.....for the most part. I have few regrets and learned some valuable lessons from my lack of academic prowness. My children are both academically gifted and athletically talented. I'm not sure if I could have been a brain....school was hard for me....even in grade school....but I sure had a lot of fun.....and somethings I still participate in on occasion. I'd love to hear from you. Drop me a line sometime....if you remember me. Workplace Although I rarely ever attended classes in school, I never missed dance class! Some of you may remember me as the girl who brought a huge suitcase to school with me several times a week! That was all of my dance sh*t and I faithfully took the PAT BUS from Wallace to Carrick where my studio was. As much school as I missed.....I always danced. I am still dancing today. I have been teaching Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics, Baton, Hawaiian, Musical Theater and Lyrical for the past 28 years. Teaching before I even would have graduated. I am certified nationally through Dance Masters of America and am currently teaching privately and coaching competitive dancers as well as grooming young ladies for pageants. I did some modeling and worked for Barbizon for a short time as well as dancing professionally. Now....too old, fat and ugly....I stay behind the scenes. I also work part time for C.V.S. as a pharmacy technician. I am available for private/group dance instruction and choreography and pageant consulting. If you are in need of these services, email me through classmates.com I hope to hear from you soon.
